On October, 2021 representative of Fulbright program, Henry Samm and senior lecturer of the department "Modern languages and Translation Studies" Aigul Beisembayeva visited one of the practical bases of educational programs of the department, city school-lyceum №24. During the visit, representatives of the department took part as a judge in the literacy contest "Spelling Bee" in English language, organized by a graduate of the department Zharylkasyn Madinabanu. Also, as part of the meeting, Henry Samm conducted a methodological training session for the school's teachers. Aigul Beisembayeva shared professional advice and the latest trends in the science of foreign philology and translation studies in order to attract applicants to the university. After visiting the school, Henry Samm as a guest and professional guidance counselor commented on the city school and the competition: Visiting schools in Shymkent, I’m always impressed by students’ level of English and the types of teaching aids available in the classroom. My experience judging the spelling bee at school № 24 was a great example of that: young students correctly spelled several difficult words, and the whole activity was conducted on a touchscreen display.
