Visit to the ancient city - Turkestan
Turkestan was known as the spiritual and political center of Turkic-speaking people and the capital of the Kazakh Khanate. Turkestan is 1,500 years old. The Mausoleum of Khoja Ahmed Yassavi is an unsurpassed masterpiece of medieval architecture and an amazing complex of palaces and temples. The height of the huge building, which survived many historical disasters, and was recently opened after restoration, is 44 meters, the diameter of the main dome is 22 meters. The building consists of 30 rooms and halls. Also there is a beautiful historical monument of the 12th-20th centuries. - Arystan-bab, dedicated to one of the holy Sufis, located 70 km away. According to legend, before his death, Mohammed gave an amanat - the rosary to Arystan-bab, which he handed over to the eleven-year-old boy, in the future famous Khoja Ahmed Yassavi.
On 26 October 2019, within the program “Course towards the future: modernization of Kazakhstan’s identity”, Phi 17-3k6 group, with teachers Tulegenova Zh.Zh., Kudaibergenova M.R. and Mirakbarova G.M. visited the mausoleums of Khoja Ahmed Yassavi and Arystan-bab in order to acquaint with the history and ancient culture of our people. Several students also prepared an interesting report about Turkestan and other monuments in three languages, informing the group as guides.
